Siesta time in Mexico is a 3-hour break from work by most workers in the country to go have lunch and  nap. Siesta time took 3 hours during the midday hours. The history of this siesta is attributed to the searing heat of the midday sun that saw people look for shade indoors and avoid open places until evening when the sun was less hot.
