On Friday night John borrowed his friend Juan’s car. John was speeding, crossed the centerline, ran another car off the road causing it to crash into a ditch. John did not stop, but was reported by a witness. John could appear in court for two separate cases. Identify each type of case, and describe why each case has been brought against John.

A case can be filed against him for not obeying traffic laws.

The second case could be manslaughter (if the driver in the other car died) or at the very least he could be charged with careless driving, intent to harm or disregard for human life (by fleeing)
