If we solve for an equation, you must solve or substitute in a different equation

so

[tex]y=6-x[/tex]

must be replaced on

[tex]2x-3y=4[/tex]

then

[tex]2x-3(6-x)=4[/tex]

multiply

[tex]2x-18+3x=4[/tex]

and solve for x

[tex]\begin{gathered} 2x+3x=4+18 \\ 5x=22 \\ x=\frac{22}{5} \end{gathered}[/tex]

the value of x is 22/5

now, to solve y , we repleca x on any equation, for example on second

[tex]\begin{gathered} x+y=6 \\ (\frac{22}{5})+y=6 \\ \\ y=6-\frac{22}{5} \\ \\ y=\frac{8}{5} \end{gathered}[/tex]

the value of y is 8/5
