A baby who is small-for-gestational-age is smaller than the usual pregnancy week and the weight of the baby is 10 percentile lesser than that of a normal infant of the same gestation age. This may occur due to multiple gestations, infections, genetic defects or maternal factors like high blood pressure, diabetes etc.
