When an aqueous solution of sulfurous acid (H2SO3) decomposes, it would form two products which are water and sulfur dioxide. The balanced chemical reaction would be written as follows:
H2SO3 = H2O + SO2
This reaction is reversible so that the products of the decomposition can react and produce again the sulfurous acid.
