Please help me understand how to do this and the answer!
There are 2 parts.
1. Find the minimum or maximum value of this function by completing the square.
F(x) = x^2 + 8x + 6

2. Give the coordinates of the vertex of the function's graph.

Thank you in advance!

Respuesta :

Turn F(x) into vertex form:

y=x^2+8x+6
y-6=x^2+8x
y-6+16=x^2+8x+16
y+10=(x+4)^2
Thus the vertex is (-4,-10)

This is a minimum because the parabola is up up, or is positive
