so as 22/7 is already a fraction we can write pi which is 3.14 to the same base as well!
so right now pi is 3.14/1 that's just 3.14.
we can multiply that 3.14 by 7 so the denominator will be 7 like the other number which helps us compare.
so 3.14*7 is 21.98
now that number is over 7
compare: 21.98/7 and 22/7 now we can see pi which is 3.14 is smaller and closer to pi

22/7 is closer to π bc it equals pie. 3.14 is just a short rounded version of π. The real π goes on and on so that's why people round it.

22/7=3.142857143...

3.14= ^rounded version of that^
