This is incorrect. The first part subtracting 11 is correct. 
However it should look like this simplifed > [tex]2x+11-11=-5-11 \ \textgreater \ 2x=-16[/tex]

Then you want to divide by 2!

[tex]\mathrm{Divide\:both\:sides\:by\:}2 \ \textgreater \ \frac{2x}{2}=\frac{-16}{2}[/tex]

Once you have done that. You get your final answer!

x = -8
