Ivan III completely eradicated Mongol influences. He was also known as Ivan the Great because he was the grand prince of all Russia. During his term, Russia gained independence from the Mongol Tatars after 200 years of their colonization. Ivan the Great also made Moscow the center of the Russian world by expanding its borders into different Russian states. He came from a family of royalty and took the throne at the age of twenty-two with his strong and very decisive character.
