16 - 3p = [tex] \frac{2p}{3} [/tex] + 5
48 - 9p = 2p + 15
48 = 2p + 15 + 9p
48 = 11p + 15
48 - 15 = 11p
33 = 11p
[tex] \frac{33}{11} [/tex] = p
3 = p
p = 3
